Only 2% of Resumes Make it Past the First Round

DID YOU KNOW?? Only 2% of resumes make it past the first round! Crazy right?! But it’s true! Statistics show that for every 100 people who apply for a job, only 2 are shortlisted to move on to the next round.

And sometimes, it’s even less! Recently, the company I work for had over 900 applicants for ONE position. Only around 15 people were shortlisted. That’s less than 2%!! So what can you do to increase your chances of getting shortlisted? Here are a few simple steps:

1. Do your research! Don’t just blindly apply to every job you see on Indeed or Monster. Take your time when applying for positions and make sure your resume highlights skills that the position requires. Employers will quickly reject you if they don’t think you’ve put any thought into applying.

2. Put your best foot forward with a professional resume optimized for your career search. Include industry-specific key words that are contained within the job description in your resume. (That’s what I’m here to help with!)

3. Write a cover letter! Cover letters immediately show employers that you’re serious about the position, and have put in the extra time to make your application stand out from the rest. Not sure what to include in your cover letter? I can help with that too!

Even though the odds make seem against you, you can make these statistics work in your favor with a quality resume and cover letter to help you stand out from the crowd. Happy job hunting!
